James K. Davis| Theatrical Designer/Manager
James Kyle Davis is a native Kansan who received his MFA in Lighting Design from Western Illinois University. James is an Assistant Professor of Theatre at Wofford College. In the fall he will join Kansas State University as their Assistant Professor of Lighting Design. His teaching credits over the years include Lighting Design, Stage Management, Play Analysis, and Fundamentals of Lighting and Sound. James has worked as a Lighting Designer for theatre companies in Kansas, Illinois, New Mexico, Missouri, and Iowa.
In addition to Lighting Design, James serves as a Stage Manager and has done so for the past five years in both Equity and Non-Equity theatres. James is currently working toward becoming an Equity Stage Manager through the Equity Membership Candidate (EMC) program.
This summer James served as the General Manager/Lighting Designer for the Clinton Area Showboat Theatre. While there he designed two musical favorites: Newsies!, and The Bridges of Madison County, along with three other great shows Dial M for Murder, Footloose, and The 39 Steps. This made James' sixth summer at the boat and he has loved every minute.
He currently lives in Spartanburg, SC and enjoys freelancing for different theatre's. James is married to his beautiful wife Jordan and they have one dog, Sam. For more of James' credits click the Resume/CV tab located above.
